"Eleven" by Patricia Reilly Giff



Sam is almost 11 when he discovers evidence that he was kidnapped. He's desperate to find out who he is, and is haunted by dreams of a big castle and a terrifying escape on a boat. Who can he trust to help him solve the mystery?

  1. I thought the author did a great job with the characters. They all felt like real people to me. I enjoyed how Sam and Caroline unraveled the mystery together and helped each other through some difficult times.

    Here's a quote from the author:
    "I want to see children curled up with books, finding an awareness of themselves as they discover other people's thoughts. I want them to make the connection that books are people's stories, that writing is talking on paper, and I want them to write their own stories.
